Sullia police have successfully arrested a man who had been on the run for 35 years in connection with a serious criminal case. The accused, Balan (73), a resident of Natti House in Thrissur district of Kerala, was finally tracked down and apprehended.
According to police reports, in 1990, Balan, along with others, was involved in a violent incident in Nagapattana area of Aletti village, Sullia Taluk. The group had unlawfully assembled and attacked two men, Shantappa and Subbaya, with swords, causing grievous injuries.
A case was registered at the Sullia Police Station under Crime No. 64/1990, involving IPC Sections 143, 147, 148, 324, 326, 506, and 149. Balan, a key accused in the case, had been absconding ever since without appearing before the court.
