The northern Assam district of Baksa woke up to a calm environment today after yesterday’s massive violence that left several people including journalists and policemen injured.
Violence broke out yesterday afternoon soon after five accused in the Zubeen Garg death case arrived at the district jail where they are lodged now. Lot of people, supposed to be fans of the late singer, pelted stones, clashed with the police and set ablaze several vehicles including vehicles belonging to the police and media.
The area turned into a virtual war zone for over an hour as police personnel slowly brought the situation under control. Police had to resort to firing in the air and l
