Zee Entertainment Enterprises reported a more than 60% drop in its second-quarter profit on Thursday, as companies continued to pull back on advertising spending.

The company, which runs television channels such as ZeeTV and ZeeCinema, said its consolidated net profit fell to ₹76.5 crore, for the quarter ended September 30, from ₹209 crore a year ago.

Broadcasters, which typically make money from advertisements, have been hurt by a sharp drop in such spending by companies, especially from big consumer firms that are facing slowing consumer demand.

Zee's revenue from advertising, its biggest segment, was nearly 11% lower than a year ago, making it the twelfth decline in the last 13 quarters. Comments
