KINGSTON – Kingston-based 104 th Military Police Battalion and 442 Military Police Company, located in Farmingdale, are deploying to the southern border on federal orders to support the US Border Patrol mission to prevent unauthorized border crossings.

A total of 188 National Guard soldiers are deploying on federal military orders for 14 months, including time for soldiers’ pre-deployment training and accrued time.

The soldiers are heading initially to Fort Bliss, Texas for post-mobilization training.

The role of the 104 th MP Battalion will be to command seven companies including a maintenance company, a transportation company, engineer companies and a forward support company operating in the Laredo Sector. That amounts to about 1,000 soldiers.
