BEEKMAN – The Beekman Town Council on Tuesday voted to transfer $300,000 from the general fund to the highway department’s machinery fund to offset the cost of a new $356,198 truck for the highway department. In a follow-up resolution, the town board authorized the purchase of the dump truck from a distributor in New Jersey.

Beekman Highway Superintendent Tony Coviello solicited bids for a new truck last year, at the request of the town board, and Hoover & Sons submitted a proposal.
