Councillors have shared support for plans to redevelop part of Cambridge Science Park to build new offices and research and development space. However, the development faces an extra challenge to overcome after Anglian Water objected to the plans due to a lack of sewage capacity in the area.
Cambridge City Council agreed to add a condition to the planning permission. This will require the developer to submit evidence that Cambridge sewage works can accommodate the net increase in waste water, or there is sufficient on-site capacity to deal with the sewage. This will need to be done before the new buildings are occupied.
