A father’s night out with his teenage daughter turned into a nightmare when a car suddenly swerved toward him , leaving him with life-changing injuries and a long road to recovery.

Shane Bown and his daughter were leaving a car meet when he was hit by an allegedly out of control car.

Shane was struck by a red Holden Commodore outside Beenleigh Showgrounds on James St, about 40 minutes south of Brisbane , after a car meet event about 8.30 pm on September 26.

Speaking from his hospital bed at the PA Hospital in Brisbane, the 51-year-old Rathdowney man told 7NEWS.com.au he still can’t piece together every moment of the impact.
