Many Hoosiers may have noticed a unique smell as they left their homes for work this morning. As the sun was rising over Indianapolis, there seemed to be a hint of poo in the air.

The smell was detected by Hoosier noses across the city, from neighborhoods as far as Eagle Creek, Wanamaker and Irvington.

IndyStar reached out to several city agencies to find an answer for residents and researched what may be causing the noticeable odor.

At the time of reporting, city agencies have not responded to IndyStar's question.
