LAFAYETTE, Ind — The Lafayette Police Department is investigating after an 18-year-old was shot and killed Wednesday night.

Around 11 p.m. Oct. 15, officers responded to a report of a shooting on North 9th Street , near Salem Street.

When police arrived on the scene, they found 18-year-old Dynasty Battle, of Attica, with a gunshot wound inside a home. Battle was pronounced dead at the scene.

An investigation indicated a 20-year-old Lafayette woman shot Battle, and a small caliber pistol was found at the scene, police said.

Authorities say there are no ongoing threats to the community. The suspect was arrested on preliminary charges of involuntary manslaughter, reckless homicide, criminal recklessness and pointing a firearm.
