A Madison man was killed in a motorcycle crash in East Haddam on Wednesday afternoon, according to state police.

Stephen John Nichols, 63, of Madison, was driving a BMW motorcycle on East Haddam Colchester Turnpike in East Haddam just after 4:30 p.m. and collided with a Toyota Tacoma that was trying to make a left turn from Starr Road onto Olmstead Road and drove into the motorcycle’s path, police said.

Nichols was thrown from his motorcycle and died at the scene, state police said.
