Two cats were found abandoned in a laundry basket in Ledyard on Wednesday.

The animals were left on Long Cove Road between Conrad Court and the parking lot for nearby trails sometime between 12:30 p.m. and 3 p.m., according to Ledyard Animal Control .

Animal control said the cats were “very friendly” and “scared but sweet.”

The owner of the cats has been asked to visit the animal control office and sign them over.

“We can gather all of their information, names, any vetting they have had and everything we need to know about them,” animal control wrote in a post on Facebook. “We can get them into our vet and into a new home quicker that way.”
