CUMBERLAND – The Cumberland School Committee has left the door open to a feasibility study and project labor agreement related to the planned new B.F. Norton Elementary School.

In a 3-2 vote last week, the committee approved a guaranteed maximum price (GMP) award to Consigli Construction to build a new B.F. Norton for $43,279,498. Prior to the vote, the committee heard from a number of representatives from various unions asking them to hold off.

In the end, warned about potential delays in the project schedule that could contribute to a missed deadline for substantial completion of the school by June 30, 2027, the committee decided against delaying the vote on the GMP, but Chairperson Amy Vogel said the feasibility study for a project labor agreement (PLA) discussion will still be discus
