COLUMBUS, Ohio — Seven people and one business have been indicted on charges of defrauding the Ohio Medicaid program by billing for services that were never provided, Attorney General Dave Yost announced.

One of those indicted is 37-year-old Laquandra Williams of Cleveland. Investigators say among the allegations against her is billing Medicaid a month after she stopped providing services to a client.

Yost's office reports that one of Williams' first statements to investigators was: "So, do you know when my court date is going to be?"

The indictments are the latest in a series of cases brought by Yost’s Medicaid Fraud Control Unit, which investigates fraudulent billing and abuse involving the state’s Medicaid system.
