LOUISVILLE, Ky. — One person is dead and two people are in the hospital after a fire early Thursday morning in the Parkland neighborhood.

A spokesperson for Louisville Fire said they were dispatched to the fire just before 7 a.m. The house was reportedly abandoned.

The house is on South 31st Street just off Broadway, and is just two blocks from the Norton West Louisville Hospital.

When crews arrived, Capt. Donovan Sims said the fire was on the second floor of the building, but that there were exposure concerns to other properties.

Two people were rescued from the rear porch of the house, and first responders transported them to the hospital, Sims said. Firefighters found a third person inside the building, but they died at the scene.
