Bengaluru: The Karnataka High Court has issued an interim directive restraining the state government from appointing administrators to the Mandya, Hosakote, Chitradurga, and Gauribidanur City Municipal Councils until the term of their elected members comes to an end.

Justice R. Nataraj, who heard the petitions filed by elected members of the four municipal councils, passed the interim order on Thursday.

After a brief hearing, the court observed that since the tenure of the elected representatives in these local bodies is still in effect, the government cannot appoint administrators to take over their functions. The bench also issued notices to the state government, State Election Commission, and respective Deputy Commissioners seeking their response.
