MADISON, Wis. — Madison police responded to reports of two people allegedly running through residents' backyards and opening house and vehicle doors on the city's southwest side early Thursday morning.

Officers arrived at the area of Black Oak Drive and Lewon Drive shortly after 1:47 a.m. and observed two individuals wearing face masks and gloves while riding bikes.

Police reported finding one of the bikes abandoned, along with a handgun and a shoe. Multiple agencies assisted at the scene to help locate the suspects.

An 18-year-old man was arrested and is being held at the Dane County Jail on a tentative resisting charge. The second suspect remains at large, and the case is under investigation.
