In just a short time, at 10:16 a.m. on Thursday, schools, offices, households and community groups are preparing to drop, cover and hold on, joining the province-wide earthquake emergency preparedness drill, known as the Great BC ShakeOut.

The Annual ShakeOut Week runs from Oct. 13-18 and this year’s theme is “If you are prepared for earthquakes, you are prepared for nearly anything.”

“In British Columbia, where seismic activity is a real threat, earthquake preparedness is essential. A few proactive steps today can make a difference tomorrow,” said Naomi Yamamoto, president of BC Earthquake Alliance Society.
