FULTONDALE, Ala. ( WBRC ) - An 85-year-old man was found dead next to his burning vehicle in Fultondale Oct. 14.

The victim has been identified as Major Issac Epting of Fultondale. He was found by fire personnel responding to a brush fire in an embankment near the road.

The accident happened in the 900 block of Ellard Road around 8 p.m. An autopsy was done on Oct. 16, but the nature of the death nor the cause and origin of the fire have not yet been determined.

The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Department is investigating.
