BIRMINGHAM, Ala. ( WBRC ) - President Donald Trump announced a deal Thursday to make In-Vitro Fertilization more accessible and more affordable for families.
Under the deal, the president says pharmaceutical companies will dramatically reduce the costs of some of the most common fertility drugs sold in the U.S.
The average cost for one cycle of in-vitro fertilization is around $20,000, and normally, patients need at least two to three rounds.
And with the World Health Organization saying one in six people globally are affected by infertility, experts say the announcement could be the first big step in trying to change that.
