: The Meghalaya High Court has given four weeks time for the three-member committee to submit its report on the current condition and functionality of weighbridges and weigh pads across the state.

The committee comprises of a retired IAS officer Ethan War Kharmalki, advocate Treiborlang Jyrwa and officer on special duty (OSD) of the State Legal Services Authority.

This decision comes in response to a public interest litigation (PIL) filed by social activist Tennydard M Marak, alleging significant revenue losses due to malfunctioning and inadequate weighbridge facilities.

“The three-member committee so constituted shall file a report within four weeks from date,” the division bench comprising Chief Justice Soumen Sen and Justice W Diengdoh said in its order passed on Thursday.
