A large-scale cinnamon recall has now been expanded to include 16 brands.

The recall is due to the presence of high levels of lead in the ground cinnamon, which the Food and Drug Administration says may be unsafe to eat.

In 2023, the FDA recalled some applesauce pouches for children due to high levels of lead in the pouches. And, after a few months of investigation, the FDA identified the cinnamon in the pouches as the likely source of the lead in early 2024.

The FDA alerted consumers to the first of these recalls in the summer of 2024 and has been periodically updating the list of tainted cinnamon products since then. On Oct. 10, 2025, the FDA expanded the list to warn consumers against consuming cinnamon powder products from 16 brands.
