A man convicted of manslaughter in a 2018 triple homicide has died in prison, Correctional Service Canada says.
Nicholas Shipman, 43, died at Millhaven Institution’s Regional Treatment Centre, the service said in an Oct. 2 news release.
In 2021, Shipman pleaded guilty to manslaughter in the 2018 killing of three Six Nations residents: Michael Jamieson, Melissa Miller and Alan Porter. He had been charged with second-degree murder in each death, but pleaded guilty to the lesser charges.
Superior Court Justice Paul Sweeny sentenced Shipman to 18 years in prison on March 10, 2022.
Coroner to determine cause of death
The service noted Shipman’s next of kin had been notified and that it would “review the circumstances” and notify police and the coroner.
