CHARLOTTE, N.C. — A man was sentenced to over 22 years in prison on Thursday for killing a 3-year-old boy in a drive-by shooting in 2021 .

Jacob Lanier pleaded guilty to second-degree murder and conspiracy to commit murder in connection with the killing of Asiah Figueroa in September 2021. Lanier accepted a plea deal to have multiple charges dropped in the case. He was sentenced to 216 to 272 months for second-degree murder and 125 to 162 months for conspiracy. The sentences will run concurrently, according to the judge.

Investigators said Figueroa was killed on the night of Sept. 7, 2021, when approximately 150 shots were fired toward his family's home on Richard Rozzelle Drive. When officers arrived, they found the 3-year-old suffering from a gunshot wound to the head. He died at the s
