CHARLOTTE, N.C. — A man was sentenced to over 16 years in prison for killing a man in northeast Charlotte during a robbery in April 2020 .
Joshua Garmon pleaded guilty to second-degree murder, common law robbery and robbery with a dangerous weapon in connection with the killing of Li Y on April 23, 2020. The judge sentenced Garmon to 157 to 201 months for second-degree murder and robbery, as well as up to 25 months for common law robbery. The sentences will run consecutively.
Li Y was returning home when witnesses said a man, identified as Garmon, stopped his car and tried to force his way in. Y was shot in the head and face three times, police said. He was found dead lying beside a car at the intersection of Paces Oaks Boulevard and East W.T. Harris Boulevard.
