After days of uncertainty as the impasse over seat-sharing went on within the Mahagathbandhan, the Congress on Thursday released its first list of 48 candidates for the upcoming Bihar Assembly polls. The party has fielded Bihar Congress Legislative Party leader Shakeel Ahmad Khan to contest from the Kadwa Assembly seat.
The deadlock may have finally been broken hours after Congress leader Rahul Gandhi and party president Mallikarjun Kharge took matters into their own hands as they dialled Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) chief Lalu Prasad Yadav in a bid to break the seat-sharing impasse between the two Mahagathbandhan allies, sources said. However, the final number of seats each constituent of the grand alliance is going to contest has not yet been made official.
