Southbound lanes on U.S. Highway 17-92 have re-opened after a scrapyard fire prompted road closures on Thursday, officials say.
The fire was burning for several hours, but has now reached a level of containment, according to Osceola County Fire Rescue.
Officials responded to the scene on Broad Street at approximately 12:55 p.m.
Firefighters told WESH 2 they were in "suppression mode," working to get the last of the fire contained.
Osceola Fire is still working alongside other agencies to get the road reopened as soon as possible. Old Tampa Highway is also shut down.
Officials report that the fire did not pose a threat to surrounding property, and there were no injuries reported.
The cause of the fire is still undetermined and under investigation.
