MEMPHIS, Tenn. (WMC) - A historic Midtown home that went up in flames Wednesday night has been ruled arson.

The Memphis Fire Department said evidence indicates individuals experiencing homelessness had been living in the home. No injuries were reported in the fire, and it did not spread to surrounding buildings.

The house next door also burned down in September, with arson confirmed as the cause in that incident as well.

No one was injured.

The Memphis Fire Department reminds residents to report suspicious activity and to ensure that vacant properties are secured to help prevent future incidents.
