JACKSON, Mich. (WILX) - Antonio Green, the man accused of fatally shooting 18-year-old Jackson girl Mia Sims, has been bound over to the court on heavier charges.
Green is accused of fatally shooting Sims near a church in Jackson in July.
He was initially charged with second degree murder, discharging a firearm in or at a building causing death, and felony firearm back in September.
On Thursday, the Jackson County prosecutor announced that the charge of second degree murder would be upgraded to open murder. The change was approved by a judge.
Open murder allows the jury or judge to decide between first degree or second degree murder, if convicted.
The change was made after witness testimony in front of Judge Robert Gaecke.
