Gregory Campbell laid the floral tribute alongside Deputy Mayor Niree McMorris in The Diamond War Memorial last week to mark the second anniversary of the October 7 atrocity in Israel.

He said it was to remember “the slaughter” that took place during the Hamas terror attack as well as “all the innocents who have died since in the region”.

"I made that clear at the time and since,” the East Londonderry representative said.

“Despite that, another manifestation of the intolerance that exists here has occurred. This isn’t the first time that wreaths have been stolen from cenotaphs here and elsewhere.

“Unfortunately, such disrespect is becoming all too common."

Police confirmed a report concerning the theft was received on Wednesday, October 15.
