The UK Health Security Agency (UKHSA) is urging eligible groups to come forward for flu vaccinations following an "early" rise in cases this year.
The health body has warned that figures, published on Thursday, suggest flu cases are "increasing early this year" with hospital admissions "starting to rise".
Following the rise in cases, the UKHSA is now urging anyone who is over the age of 65, pregnant or in a clinical risk group to book the flu vaccination.
The warning comes after flu levels were found to be increasing, with overall influenza hospital admissions increasing to 1.27 per 100,000, up from 0.73 per 100,000 in the previous week.
