The redevelopment of yet another Downtown Pittsburgh aging office towers just took a major step forward.

Ohio-based developer Woda Cooper Companies on Tuesday purchased 4 Smithfield Street, a 12-story, nearly vacant building at the corner of Smithfield Street. and Fort Pitt Blvd.

The building is one of seven residential projects that form the backbone of a $600 million bet on the Golden Triangle. Last year, city, county and state officials joined to announce the landmark investment in Downtown, aimed at breathing new life into the corridor for the third time in Pittsburgh’s history.
