MADISON, Wis. -- A male polar bear will soon make the short journey north from Chicago to the Henry Vilas Zoo.

The Lincoln Park Zoo announced Thursday that Siku, a 15-year-old polar bear, will move to Madison for a breeding recommendation in the coming weeks. Siku has been at the Lincoln Park Zoo since 2016.

Siku's arrival coincides with the anticipated arrival of Nora, a female polar bear that is set to come to Madison from the Oregon Zoo in Portland. Both will join 26-year-old female Berit.

The Henry Vilas Zoo announced last week that two grizzly bears would be moving to another AZA-accredited institution to make way for the new polar bears.
