Waterloo Regional Police is issuing a public alert that a high-risk offender has recently been released into Kitchener.
Kevin Koehler, 60, was convicted of a Kitchener manslaughter in 2013 and, police said, has an extensive criminal history of violent offence convictions including criminal negligence causing death, assault with weapon, assault, and assaulting police, police said.
Upon completing his sentence, Koehler was released on Thursday.
Koehler just had his statutory release was revoked in September by the Parole Board of Canada after he entered an LCBO store smelling of booze and later, in an interview with authorities, re-enacted the killing of his roommate.
In 2013, Koehler fatally choked his Kitchener roommate, Mary May.
