HUNTINGTON, W.Va. (WSAZ) - Marshall University is celebrating 100 years of Black History observations, and the tradition has some special ties to our area.

That’s because Carter G. Woodson, who is considered the father of Black History, went to Douglass High School in Huntington after moving from Virginia.

He also established the study of Black History in the country in the early 1900s.

Professor Burnis Morris and Michelle Morrison from Marshall University stopped by First Look at Four to tell us how Marshall is celebrating.
