WACO, Texas (KWTX) - McLennan County District Attorney Josh Tetens announced Thursday his office will seek the death penalty against Nicolas Jaimes-Hernandez in the 2022 mass killings in McGregor, while a judge approved the DA’s office plan to conduct a mock trial in the capital murder case.
Jaimes-Hernandez, 37, made his first court appearance Thursday since the Sept. 29, 2022, incident in McGregor that left five dead and two wounded.
Deputies wheeled Jaimes-Hernandez into court in a wheelchair and he made an obscene gesture toward KWTX chief photographer Bradley Vaughn on his way into the courtroom.
