KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- The Missouri Attorney General has filed charges against a contractor for allegedly defrauding customers in Jackson County.
According to AG Catherine Hanaway, Jeffrey Griffin, who operates as Griffin Quality Construction, failed to complete work for which he had previously accepted deposits for, leaving customers with losses of more than $15,000. Griffin accepted deposits from homeowners to repair stairs, provide the materials to do so and complete the work.
Griffin now faces four counts of deceptive business practice and four counts of felony theft. Court records show the deposits were taken between August 2022 and October 2023.
“Cases like this show the importance of holding dishonest contractors accountable,” said Attorney General Hanaway.
“When Missourians pay fo
