KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- Just 17 days after voters recalled Jackson County Executive Frank White, a new face is taking the reins and hitting the ground running.

Jackson County Interim Executive Phil LeVota was officially sworn in as Interim Jackson County Executive on Wednesday. On his very first day on the job, he sat down with FOX4 for a one-on-one exclusive interview you’ll see only on FOX4.

"I'm drinking water out of a fire hose today,” LeVota said.

It’s clear from the outset that LeVota is wasting no time getting to work.

"Tax assessment, tax assessment, tax assessment," he said when asked what his three priorities are.

After back-to-back assessment disasters that led to Frank White’s recall, LeVota says fixing that system is job number one.
