Anthony Santander‘s post-season could be over.

The Toronto Blue Jays have requested MLB to remove the switch-hitting slugger from their ALCS roster, Sportsnet’s Ben Nicholson Smith reported on Thursday.

Pending approval from the commissioner’s office, which could come before first pitch of Thursday’s Game 4, outfielder Joey Loperfido would take Santander’s spot, Nicholson-Smith added.

The Athletic was first to report the move.

Per MLB rules, a player removed due to injury during a series is ineligible to return in the following series, meaning Santander would not be available to return if the Blue Jays advance to the World Series.
