Ja Rule is already in the mood to be called “Big Poppa” as he welcomes the news of becoming a first-time grandfather.

The Grammy-nominated hip-hop superstar announced on Thursday that his daughter Brittney Aitken and her newlywed husband, Tevin Aitken, are expecting their first child.

“I’m about to be a grandfather,” Ja Rule told Sherri Shepherd on her eponymous daytime talk show. He joked that his new familial title doesn’t “even sound right” since he’s only 49 years old.

Brittney, 30 , is the only daughter of the three adult children the “ Always On Time ” rapper shares with his wife of 24 years, Aisha Atkins .

Ja Rule said that Brittney shared the exciting news with her parents in a “very cute” way.
