CHARLOTTE, N.C. — A crash in south Charlotte is impacting traffic, police said Thursday.

The crash happened on Ardrey Kell Road near Blakeney Heath Road. It's not clear if there were any injuries. Medic advised WCNC Charlotte to contact the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department about the situation.

A CMPD vehicle was severely damaged in the crash and was towed away from the area.

It's not known how many vehicles were involved.

Police have not released any further details. People are asked to avoid the area as police investigate.
