LEWIS, N.Y. (WCAX) - Sarah and Jeramie van Rijsewijk made their dreams come true when they moved to the town of Lewis four years ago.

“We have wanted to live in the Adirondacks since we have been together for over 15 years; we wanted to be up here,” said Sarah.

They say their home is a haven where their family and animals are able to enjoy a largely quiet and scenic area, but they say all that changed in September, when they noticed military helicopters flying unusually low to the ground.

“Not just over, we are talking 250 feet off the ground. This is not like an airplane flying overhead or a helicopter that is going somewhere; it is hovering over our houses,” said Jeramie.

Three houses down, Lewis town board member Lanita Canavan says the sightings started to raise questions.
