A historic milestone for India’s defence sector — the indigenous Tejas Mk1A fighter jet takes its maiden flight from Nashik. Defence Minister Rajnath Singh will unveil the first Mk1A to roll out from HAL’s new production line, marking a major boost to the “Make in India” initiative. The 4.5-generation multi-role combat jet features 64% indigenous content, AESA radar, electronic warfare systems, and the Astra missile system. With HAL set to deliver 83 aircraft by 2029 and a fresh order for 97 more, Tejas is poised to replace the ageing MiG-21 fleet. India’s air power is truly taking off.
