TAMPA, Fla. (WFLA)— Development is possible for a tropical wave in the central tropical Atlantic, the National Hurricane Center said.
A tropical wave located east of the Windward Islands into the Caribbean Sea is associated with a large area of showers and thunderstorms.
Gradual development of this system is possible over the next several days as it moves westward at 15 to 20 mph, the NHC said.
Regardless of development, the Windward Islands could see heavy rainfall and gusty winds late this weekend as the system enters the Caribbean Sea by the early to middle part of next week.
The chance of development in the next 48 hours is 10 percent.
