A sports bar dedicated to hometown heroes took the top prize in the 2025 Iowa’s Best Breaded Pork Tenderloin Contest from the Iowa Pork Producers Association.

Located in the heart of downtown Grinnell, Hometown Heroes is more than just a sports bar — it’s a heartfelt tribute to local legends, fallen heroes, and community pride. Chef Paul Durr, operator of the Prairie Canary and the entrepreneur behind the transformation of the former Lonnski’s, opened Hometown Heroes in 2019 with his wife, Kalyn Durr, along with partners Shannon and Todd Reding.
