GRINNELL, Iowa (KCRG) - The Iowa Pork Producers Association (IPPA) will present its award for best pork breaded tenderloin this afternoon.
Hometown Heroes in Grinnell was named this year’s winner of Iowa’s Best Breaded Pork Tenderloin Contest.
The sports grill restaurant beat 39 top-rated restaurants to win best sandwich.
Three judges with the IPPA ranked the finalist tenderloins on pork taste, quality, physical characteristics, presentation and experience.
Owner and executive chef Paul Durr said the restaurant has seen an uptick in breaded tenderloin orders since it was listed as a contest finalist.
“Our staff has worked so hard, and the community support has just blown us away,” Durr said. “We’re so proud to win this award.”
The restaurant opened in 2019. Owners Paul and Kalyn Dur
