(Emmons County, ND) — A newly released affidavit states that the Emmons County state’s attorney was accused of driving while drunk in August. Joseph Hanson was allegedly caught with an open can of beer during a traffic stop on August 4th after a sheriff’s deputy spotted a vehicle driving 40 miles under the speed limit on U.S. Highway 83. The report states that Hanson refused to undergo field sobriety tests and denied drinking before driving, but a blood alcohol content test later found he was at point-one-one-five, which is over the legal limit. Hanson pleaded not guilty to all charges, including misdemeanor DUI. A trial for the DUI charge is set for January 15th.
