LAKE WINNEBAGO, Wis. (WBAY) - Sturgeon spearing isn’t until February, but spearers are facing a deadline in 2 weeks.

The Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources is reminding spearers to buy their license before October 31 to harvest sturgeon in Lake Winnebago for the 2026 season.

You can buy a license through the DNR’s Go Wild system online or at any license sales location. You have to be at least 12 years old.

The season opens February 14. It will last a maximum of 16 days or until the harvest cap is met.
