The real headline is that according to forecasts from Export Development Canada (EDC), the Canadian economy is falling into a recession , in large part due to U.S. tariffs, which are very dumb government interventions. In addition to likely pushing Canada into a recession, the tariffs impose significant harm on Americans: the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development projects GDP growth in the U.S. will fall from 2.8 per cent in 2024 to only 1.8 per cent in 2025 and 1.5 in 2026, with tariffs as a significant cause for the decline.
While U.S. tariffs contribute to Canada’s current problems, they are not the only harmful government in
