Grey’s Anatomy fans know that the carousel never stops turning.

After the Shonda Rhimes show kicked off its 22nd season with the loss of Dr. Monica Beltran ( Natalie Morales ), morale was low at Grey Sloan Memorial Hospital, but Dr. Maggie Pierce ( Kelly McCreary ) lifted spirits by making a rare return — and announcing she is pregnant.

And while Maggie had an on-again-off-again relationship with ex Dr. Winston Ndugu ( Anthony Hill ), she confirmed to Meredith Grey ( Ellen Pompeo ) and Amelia Shepherd ( Caterina Scorsone ) that she is embarking on parenthood solo, saying the father is “Donor No. 12715.”

“You guys think I’ve lost my mind?” Maggie asks her fellow doctors in the Oct. 16 episode, to which Meredith responds, “Maybe, it’s a lot of work.”
