GRAND RAPIDS, MI - Cardinal Newman is a private, Catholic school in South Carolina known for academic excellence. One of my best friends and her brother are graduates.

I was one of six children, so financially it made sense for me to attend the very good secondary schools nearby with highly regarded Advance Placement programs in that suburb. I also benefited from a Catholic afterschool program that bolstered my primary education before we moved to that district.

We are fortunate in Grand Rapids to have many excellent public and private, faith-based schools. My parish, Saint Thomas, has an excellent program. Parents are the primary educators of their children. Some parents want their kids to attend Catholic school to provide a fertile ground for faith and academics but can’t afford it.
